Turning a Figma File Into a Live Event Site Under Deadline
Converted a Figma design into a fully responsive Elementor-built WordPress site, including registration flows, on a fixed conference deadline.
The Challenge
A conference site needed to go live by a fixed date, matching a detailed Figma design closely enough that the design team's sign-off wasn't a formality — while still supporting registration pages that non-technical staff could later update themselves.
My Role
Took the design from Figma to a fully built, responsive WordPress/Elementor site, including custom sections not covered by the page builder's defaults.
Approach
Broke the Figma file into reusable Elementor sections rather than one-off pages, so registration and schedule pages could share components and stay visually consistent as content changed close to launch. Paid close attention to typography, spacing, and breakpoint behavior to keep the build faithful to the design at every screen size.
Technical Challenges
Elementor's defaults don't always match a custom design system out of the box — several sections needed hand-written CSS to hit the exact spacing and responsive behavior the design called for, without breaking the page builder's editability for future updates.
Outcome
The site launched on schedule, closely matched the approved design, and stayed easy enough for the client's own staff to update registration content without developer involvement.
